The Ajuntament de Barcelona often processes the padrón fully online when your housing document is in your own name. Otherwise you attend the Oficina d'Atenció Ciutadana for your district, which we identify from your address.

Catalonia runs its own preinscripció calendar and teaches mainly in Catalan. Your registered address is a major factor in the allocation.

Rental supply is tight and regulated, contracts are checked closely by the town hall, and a NIE is expected before signing.

Water is supplied by Aigües de Barcelona, while electricity and gas are open-market contracts.
Metro, tram, FGC and bus run on integrated tickets, and the city is compact enough that many residents skip car ownership.
Each member needs a NIE and a padrón entry, and school preinscripció dates are fixed regionally, so timing the registration matters.
