Living in Barcelona, the practical part

Tech and creative professionals, students, and families relocating from across the EU.

Empadronamiento per district

The Ajuntament de Barcelona often processes the padrón fully online when your housing document is in your own name. Otherwise you attend the Oficina d'Atenció Ciutadana for your district, which we identify from your address.

Decided by Ajuntament de Barcelona.

Local and regional taxes

IBI is municipal, while transfer tax on property is set by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Agencia Tributaria (AEAT)

Schools

Catalonia runs its own preinscripció calendar and teaches mainly in Catalan. Your registered address is a major factor in the allocation.

Decided by Departament d'Educació, Generalitat de Catalunya.

Healthcare

CatSalut issues the regional health card and assigns your CAP health centre by address.

Seguridad Social (INSS)

Housing

Rental supply is tight and regulated, contracts are checked closely by the town hall, and a NIE is expected before signing.

Banking

Major banks and digital banks all operate here, and a NIE plus proof of address is the standard requirement.

Utilities

Water is supplied by Aigües de Barcelona, while electricity and gas are open-market contracts.

Getting around

Metro, tram, FGC and bus run on integrated tickets, and the city is compact enough that many residents skip car ownership.

Moving with family

Each member needs a NIE and a padrón entry, and school preinscripció dates are fixed regionally, so timing the registration matters.

A few plain questions, no Spanish paperwork terms.

  2. 2

    We determine what you need

We work out which procedures actually apply to your household.

  3. 3

    Upload your documents

One secure place, shared household documents only once.

  4. 4

    We prepare the official forms

We fill in the government forms with the details you gave us.

  5. 5

    We check everything

We review each document before it reaches an authority.

  6. 6

You attend the appointment, we tell you exactly what to bring.

Why people trust us

Here is what you can hold us to. (Barcelona)

Fixed price, shown before you pay

You see our fee, the government fee and any third party cost before you commit. No hourly billing, no surprises afterwards.

Avoid a rejected appointment

A missing signature or wrong document can mean a second appointment, weeks of delay, or another trip to Spain. A human checks everything before it reaches an official desk.

Updates in your own language

Status updates by email and WhatsApp in English, Dutch, German or Spanish, at every step of your application.

We say what we cannot do

We prepare, check and guide. We are not a law firm and we cannot attend an appointment in your place, and we tell you that up front.

Fixed pricing, no hidden fees
