Official government fee

Modelo 790 Código 012, how the payment really works

Every NIE application requires an official Spanish government fee. This fee is not charged by Move Spain, it is paid directly to the Spanish authorities using the official form Modelo 790 Código 012.

Current official fee

9,95 €per applicant

Official Spanish Government fee. It is not charged by Hola Mallorca and is not included in your package unless explicitly stated.

Important. Government fees may change over time. We always show the latest amount published by the Spanish authorities, never a hardcoded price.

Who has to pay?

The government fee applies per person. We prepare the details for one Modelo 790 for every family member included in your application.

Single applicant

1 Modelo 790 → 1 government fee

9,95 €

Family of four

4 Modelo 790 forms → 4 government fees

39,80 €

The payment process, step by step

  1. Step 1 · We prepare your details for the official Modelo 790

You complete the official form on the Spanish Government website, we show you exactly which details from your application to use, so you never look anything up twice.

  2. Step 2 · Download and print

The government system issues the Modelo 790 with its unique reference number and barcode, one per applicant.

  3. Step 3 · Visit a participating Spanish bank

Most large Spanish banks accept the payment at the counter.

  4. Step 4 · Pay the official government fee

The fee is paid directly to the Spanish authorities, not to Move Spain.

  5. Step 5 · The bank validates and stamps the form

The stamp on the Modelo 790 is your proof of payment.

  6. Step 6 · Bring the stamped form to your appointment

Together with your passport, signed EX-15 and the other required documents.

Important information

  • · The Modelo 790 must normally be printed and taken to a collaborating Spanish bank for payment.
  • · After payment the bank validates or stamps the form.
  • · The stamped payment confirmation is normally required during your official NIE appointment.
  • · Always follow the instructions applicable to your appointment location and payment method.

What to bring to your NIE appointment

Inside your portal this checklist is personalised, you only see the documents that apply to your own application.

Legal notice. Move Spain prepares your information and checks your documents. Official government forms, the official fee and the decision stay with the Spanish authorities. The official government fee is paid directly to the Spanish authorities. Move Spain does not collect or retain this government fee unless explicitly stated for a specific service.

Questions people actually ask

How do I get a NIE in Spain?
You submit form EX-15 with your passport and proof of why you need the number, pay the Modelo 790 code 012 fee at a Spanish bank, and attend an appointment at a police station or Oficina de Extranjería. Move Spain prepares the form, checks the documents and coordinates the appointment; the number itself is issued by the Spanish authority.
How long does a NIE take?
Once the appointment takes place, the number is normally issued the same day. The waiting time for an appointment depends on the office and is the part nobody can guarantee, so we book as early as your file allows.
Do I need a NIE to buy a car or a home in Spain?
Yes. A NIE is required for any purchase, contract or mortgage in Spain, and for opening most bank accounts.

Official decisions are made by Policía Nacional / Oficina de Extranjería. Move Spain is an independent service that prepares and coordinates the process, and government fees are always paid directly to the authority. Official source.
