Moving to Alicante

Alicante and the Costa Blanca have one of the largest EU communities in Spain. Move prepares your NIE and Padrón paperwork for the Alicante offices.

Government offices in Alicante

The offices that actually handle your procedures, taken from official government and municipal sources. Your NIE and your registration are separate procedures and can be handled in different places.

NIE

Empadronamiento (Padr\u00f3n)

Ayuntamiento, town hall and district offices

Living in Alicante, the practical part

Retirees, remote workers and families from northern Europe, many of them across the wider Costa Blanca rather than in the city itself.

Empadronamiento

The Ayuntamiento de Alicante handles registration for the city. Neighbouring municipalities on the Costa Blanca each run their own process, so the correct town hall depends on your exact address.

Decided by Ayuntamiento de Alicante.

Local taxes

IVTM and IBI are municipal and vary noticeably between Alicante city and the smaller coastal municipalities.

Schools

Public schools teach in Valencian and Spanish, and the province has a large number of international schools serving the expatriate community.

Healthcare

Health centres are assigned by registered address, with several hospitals covering the province.

Seguridad Social (INSS)

Housing

Both long-term rentals and purchases are common, and a NIE is required before any purchase or mortgage.

Banking

Banks in the province are used to international clients, but still require a NIE for a resident account.

Utilities

Water supply is municipal or concessioned per town, electricity and gas are open-market contracts.

Getting around

TRAM lines link the coastal towns, and the airport connects the province to most of northern Europe.

Moving with family

Individual NIEs and padrón entries are needed for children too, including for school registration.

Why people trust us

We do not publish reviews we have not received. Until verified reviews are collected, here is what you can hold us to instead. (Alicante)

Fixed price, shown before you pay

You see our fee, the government fee and any third party cost before you commit. No hourly billing, no surprises afterwards.

Avoid a rejected appointment

A missing signature or wrong document can mean a second appointment, weeks of delay, or another trip to Spain. A human checks everything before it reaches an official desk.

Updates in your own language

Status updates by email and WhatsApp in English, Dutch, German or Spanish, at every step of your application.

We say what we cannot do

We prepare, check and guide. We are not a law firm and we cannot attend an appointment in your place, and we tell you that up front.

Fixed pricing, no hidden fees
