Andalusia

Moving to the Costa del Sol

The Málaga coastline from Torremolinos to Estepona. Immigration paperwork for the whole strip is handled by Extranjería in Málaga, while registration, local taxes and waste charges belong to the town hall where you actually live.

The same across the whole Costa del Sol

  • NIE and residency appointments are handled by Extranjería in Málaga province
  • Andalusia sets transfer tax on property

Decided by your own town hall

  • Empadronamiento document lists and appointment systems
  • IBI property tax rates
  • Waste and municipal service charges

Where in the Costa del Sol are you moving?

Your municipality determines your registration, your local taxes and your appointment. Pick the one closest to where you will live.

We also handle applications in Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Estepona, Sotogrande. There is no separate page for those towns yet, the Smart Intake still applies your exact municipality.

How Move Spain works

The complexity sits behind the interface. Your part is short, guided and online.

  1. 1You

    Tell us about yourself

A few plain questions about your move, your household and your situation.

  2. 2Move Spain

    We determine your route

Move Spain works out which Spanish procedures apply to you, in which order, and what they cost.

  3. 3Move Spain

    We prepare your documents

Your official forms are filled with the details you already gave us, and every document is checked before it is used.

  4. 4You

    You complete the required actions

You sign, pay official fees and attend the appointments that legally require you in person.

  6. 6Move Spain

    You receive confirmation

What Move Spain cannot do for you

Some steps are legally yours alone. We say so up front, because a surprise halfway through a Spanish procedure costs you far more than an honest sentence here.

You attend in person

  • NIE number: Extranjería takes your signature and checks your original ID at the counter.
  • Empadronamiento: Most town halls ask you to sign at the counter, a few accept an online submission.

You pay the authority directly

  • Modelo 790 code 012 fee, charged by Spanish government, Policía Nacional.
  • Padrón certificate, charged by Your Ayuntamiento.

An external provider is involved

  • Sworn translation, charged by Sworn translator (traductor jurado).
  • Notary or certified copy, charged by Notary.
  • Courier or postal costs, charged by Courier service.

Move Spain is a private relocation service, not a government authority. We prepare, check and coordinate. Why we started Move Spain.
