Is the paperwork different in Palma than in the rest of Mallorca?+
The national NIE procedure is the same across the island. Empadronamiento, local taxes and waste charges are decided by your own town hall, so those genuinely differ between Palma, Calvià, Pollença and the smaller municipalities.
Do I need to be on the island to start?+
No. Everything we can prepare, forms, document checks and fee paperwork, is prepared before you arrive. The appointments that require your signature or your original documents happen in person in Mallorca.
Where is the NIE application submitted in Mallorca?+
At Oficina de Extranjería, Palma de Mallorca. The appointment is booked through the official government system and you attend in person, or someone with a power of attorney attends for you.
Is the NIE the same as registering as an EU resident?+
No. The NIE is an identification number. EU citizens staying longer than three months also need the Certificate of Registration of EU Citizen, which is a separate procedure.
