The decision is made by your ayuntamiento (town hall). Move Spain prepares and checks the application; it does not issue documents and is not a government authority.

What is the padrón?+
The padrón municipal is the municipal register of everyone living in a town or city. Registering is called empadronamiento, and the certificate proves your address.
Do I need a padrón?+
You register in the municipality where you actually live. The certificate is normally required for healthcare, school places and further residency steps.
Is the process the same everywhere in Spain?+
No. Each municipality sets its own requirements for proof of address and appointments, so we work from the rules of your own town hall.
Which documents are needed?+
Usually identification for everyone registering and proof of address such as a rental contract, deed or recent utility bill. Your town hall decides what it accepts.
