Only if you live inside the municipality. If your address is in Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas or Marbella, that town hall handles your registration and local taxes.
Where is the NIE application submitted in Málaga?+
At Oficina de Extranjería, Málaga. The appointment is booked through the official government system and you attend in person, or someone with a power of attorney attends for you.
Is the NIE the same as registering as an EU resident?+
No. The NIE is an identification number. EU citizens staying longer than three months also need the Certificate of Registration of EU Citizen, which is a separate procedure.
